How many Disney Lorcana sets are there, and what does each one add? Short answer: 13 main sets have been released since August 2023, and set 14, Hyperia City, arrives on 23 October 2026. This guide goes through every set in order: what it added to the game, which Disney and Pixar properties debuted, what the launch products contained and whether the set is legal in Core Constructed today.
Start here
- Playing in organised events: Core Constructed currently uses released sets 9 to 13 (Fabled onward), plus older cards reprinted in those sets. Hyperia City preview cards are marked Core legal and join when the set releases. Older sets remain available in Infinity Constructed.
- Playing at home: rotation only affects Core events. You can mix cards from any set.
- Collecting: each main set has 204 standard cards (two sets have slightly more), plus chase printings numbered above the printed set size.
- Next release: Hyperia City, prerelease 16 October 2026, everywhere 23 October 2026.
- Looking for sealed Lorcana? See our Disney Lorcana range.

Which set suits what you want to do?
| If you want to… | What to know |
|---|---|
| Play Core Constructed | Only cards from Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine! are legal, plus older cards that were reprinted in those sets with the same full name. |
| Play Infinity Constructed | Almost any card ever printed is legal, apart from cards on the format’s own banned list. That includes sets 1 to 8. |
| Play casually with family or friends | Any set works with any other. Ravensburger says rotation only affects Core Constructed. |
| Open packs | Every booster pack holds 12 cards. The set matters mainly for the characters and artwork you want to see. |
| Complete a set | Plan for the standard cards (204 in most sets) plus Enchanted printings (12 in sets 1 and 2, 18 after that), and from Fabled onward 18 Epic and 2 Iconic printings as well. See “Rarities and card numbers” below. |
| Buy for a Disney or Pixar fan | Use the franchise table below to find which set a film first appeared in. Characters can also appear in later sets, so check the card list before buying for one character. |

How to read the dates: “first release” is the date a set reached game stores and select Disney locations. Wider retail followed one to two weeks later for most sets, and Ravensburger has recently used a one-week gap between “prerelease” and “everywhere”. The set profiles give the wider date where it has been officially stated. *Card counts: Lorcast data analysed by Mythras counts a card numbered 0 in Fabled (Bruno Madrigal – Undetected Uncle), and three extra Rares in Attack of the Vine!. Hyperia City’s official card gallery uses a 204-card standard checklist. Standard cards are Common to Legendary; chase printings are numbered above them.
Set-by-set profiles
1. The First Chapter · 18 August 2023
Released: 18 August 2023 at game stores. Wider retail followed in September 2023.
What it introduced: The whole game. Six inks (Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Steel), glimmers (the Disney characters you summon), items, actions and songs, plus questing and challenging. The keywords were Bodyguard, Challenger, Evasive, Reckless, Rush, Shift, Singer, Support and Ward. Enchanted, the foil-only secret rarity, also started here.

Format status: Infinity Constructed only. It left Core Constructed with Fabled.

Released: 17 May 2024 at game stores, 31 May 2024 everywhere else.

What’s announced after Hyperia City

Ravensburger says six Illustrious cards are planned for the set, with only 23 serialized copies of each.
Cosmic Quest follows in spring 2027 (Q2). No card list has been published for either set. A third Illumineer’s Quest, The Great Hunny Rescue, also appears on Ravensburger’s product list.

What the main products contain
| Product | What’s in it |
|---|---|
| Booster pack | 12 cards: 6 Common, 3 Uncommon, 2 Rare, Super Rare or Legendary, and 1 foil of random rarity. Epic, Enchanted and Iconic cards are foil-only, so they come from that foil slot (per Lorcana Player and Mythras). |
| Booster display | 24 booster packs, which is 288 cards. |
| Single-player starter deck | The early starter-deck format contains one ready-to-play 60-card deck including 2 foil cards, 11 game tokens, a rulebook and one 12-card booster pack. It was the main starter format before the 2-Player Starter Set arrived with Wilds Unknown. |
| 2-Player Starter Set | Two ready-to-play 60-card decks, with 2 special cards in each deck, plus 2 deck storage boxes, 13 tokens, 2 lore trackers and a rulebook. First released with Wilds Unknown. |
| Gateway | A learn-to-play product from the Shimmering Skies era: two 30-card starting decks that you build up to two 60-card decks in stages. |
| Collection Starter Set | Introduced with Fabled for people who want to start collecting favourite Disney characters rather than play competitively. |
| Illumineer’s Trove | Always check the set-specific product page because the accessories have changed. Early Troves such as The First Chapter included a storage box, 2 deck boxes, 8 booster packs, 15 game tokens and a player’s guide. The current Hyperia City Trove includes 8 booster packs, 6 damage dice and a spin-dial lore counter among its contents. |
| Illumineer’s Quest | Solo or co-operative games against a scenario: Deep Trouble (Ursula), Palace Heist (Jafar) and The Great Hunny Rescue. |
Product contents above are taken from Ravensburger’s own product pages. Contents have changed over the life of the game, so check the page or packaging for the exact set you are buying.
Rarities and card numbers
| Rarity | Notes |
|---|---|
| Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary | The standard run. Most sets have 72 Commons, 54 Uncommons, 48 Rares, 18 Super Rares and 12 Legendaries (204). |
| Enchanted | A foil-only secret rarity since the first set. 12 per set in sets 1 and 2, then 18 per set. Fabled added rainbow foil hot stamping and a holofoil rarity symbol. |
| Epic | Introduced in Fabled. 18 per set. Rarer than Legendary but more common than Enchanted. Frame-less artwork, rainbow foil and tinted text. |
| Iconic | Introduced in Fabled. 2 per set, the rarest cards in the game. Full-card artwork, a custom lore-star foil pattern and 3D hot-stamp effects. |
| Illustrious | Announced for Into the Inkdark. Only 23 serialized copies of each card per set. |
Why a card can be numbered higher than the set size. Chase printings are numbered after the standard run. For example, an Iconic card in Attack of the Vine! is numbered 245 of 207. According to Lorcast data analysed by Mythras, every Epic, Enchanted and Iconic printing in the 13 main sets is a second printing of a card that also exists in the same set at a standard rarity. So the deckbuilding pool is the smaller number (204 in most sets), while a full binder set is larger (242 printings in sets 10 to 12).
Core Constructed, Infinity Constructed and rotation
Ravensburger runs two official constructed formats. Core Constructed rotates: once a year the four oldest sets leave it. The first rotation came with Fabled in 2025 and removed sets 1 to 4. The second came on 17 July 2026 with Attack of the Vine! and removed sets 5 to 8. Core now uses Fabled and later sets.
Reprints carry forward. If a card from Reign of Jafar or earlier was reprinted in Fabled or later, the older copy is still legal in Core. The full name, including the version, has to match. Belle – Apprentice Inventor and Belle – Inventive Engineer are different cards. Different artwork of the same card is treated as the same card.
Infinity Constructed doesn’t rotate. You can use almost any card ever printed, except cards on its own banned list. Ravensburger also points out that collectors may find older singles and packs easier to track down after a set rotates.
Frequently asked questions
How many Disney Lorcana sets are there?
13 main sets have been released, from The First Chapter (August 2023) to Attack of the Vine! (July 2026). Hyperia City, set 14, is due on 23 October 2026. There are also promo sets, Illumineer’s Quest products and other releases that aren’t part of the numbered run.
Which sets are legal in Core Constructed?
Right now, Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine! are the released Core sets, plus older cards reprinted in them. Hyperia City preview cards are already marked Core Constructed in Ravensburger’s card gallery and join the format when the set releases.
Can I still play with older sets?
Yes. Sets 1 to 8 are legal in Infinity Constructed and in casual play. Rotation only affects Core Constructed events.
What’s the difference between prerelease and release dates?
Prerelease is the first date a set is available, at local game stores and select Disney locations. “Everywhere” is when mass-market and online retailers can sell it. For recent sets the gap has been one week.
How many cards are in a booster pack and a box?
A booster pack has 12 cards. A booster display has 24 packs, or 288 cards.
Which set should I start with?
It depends on what you want. For events, start in Core sets 9 to 13. For a first game, look at the starter products described above. For collecting by film, use the franchise table.
Why are some cards numbered higher than the set size?
They’re chase printings (Enchanted, Epic, Iconic), numbered after the standard cards. They are second printings of cards that already appear in the set.
Is Disney Lorcana getting a digital version?
Ravensburger announced at D23 in August 2026 that a digital version for desktop and mobile is “in the works”. No release date has been given.

Dates, mechanics and formats are taken from Ravensburger’s own pages and set notes where they exist. Card counts come from the Lorcast database as analysed by Mythras. Where sources disagreed (for example on wider retail dates for older sets), we’ve given the first-release date and said so.
